getting framed…in Manly

IMG_7492 2

The framing is going up quickly now, too quick for Rusty to maintain stock counts. Below is drone footage just after the first level floor was laid. From above it clearly identifies the cut into the existing roof behind the ridge. The new addition is not evident from the street frontage as per heritage requirements.

In the next video we fly from the rear of the site so that the upper floor can be seen in relation to below. Basically all we have is the steel structure and the timber flooring upstairs.

And then the framing is up…..

And that’s a wrap…. next stage is the roof, windows and cladding.

manly project update

The rear of the building has been demolished making way for a new two storey element to lock into the existing federation cottage. All the bricks from site have been retained to use for the garden retaining walls and a wall backing the kitchen. This wall will become a feature wall that will be back lit behind the clear glass splash back.

The slab has been poured. The final product is a polished concrete slab, so special attention was required to ensure no cracking during the curing of the concrete.

Luckily we had a bit of wet weather to assist with the curing. Set down above is where the new bi-folding doors will be located and new decking fame on the lower slab edge. The external should meet with the internal floor level.

Here is a sample grinding of the slab to show the client.
